Sutjeska Hobit – Rainforest, Canyoning and Horse Riding

Your arrangement begins with your arrival at our center in the Sutjeska National Park – Green Villas Tjentiste, no later than 10:30 AM. After the check-in (room assignment), we acquaint ourselves with the basics of today’s adventure through the largest jungle in Europe. Your guide will briefly explain the plan for the day, and after a short briefing, we embark on our off-road vehicle journey towards the Perucica Primeval Forest. Perucica Primeval Forest is a well-preserved natural reserve, and it’s safe to say it is the cleanest part of this region in Europe. Strict protection and control of access to the forest have resulted in Perucica being proudly referred to as the cleanest corner of Europe. Can you imagine yourself in the middle of the jungle, right here in Bosnia and Herzegovina? By choosing this arrangement, you will experience a unique adventure and be among the few who have walked the paths of the last preserved and oldest primeval forest in Europe. After about 20 minutes of off-road driving, we reach the starting point of today’s hike. At the very beginning, we are greeted by trees several times older and reaching heights of over 50 meters. We fully experience the power of nature and surrender to all its charms. We guarantee that you have never walked such forest paths before. The terrain is often wet and muddy, indicating the need for adequate equipment for this adventure. As with all our trips, we have prepared lunch packages for today, and we expect you to have the following: hiking boots, hiking pants, two spare T-shirts for changing, a battery-powered lamp, mosquito spray just in case (Autan spray recommended), a backpack, a hat or scarf, a raincoat, an ID card, and depending on the season, a thicker or lighter jacket. Since the entire territory of Perucica is under strict protection of natural resources, we emphasize that our trips into the forest are carried out with the guidance of National Park Sutjeska guides because independent visits to the forest are strictly prohibited. Covering nearly 1300 hectares, Perucica occupies a significant part of the Sutjeska National Park, and a large part of the forest is still unexplored. Some areas are so inaccessible that we believe human feet will never tread on those places. In the primeval forest, talking and making noise are kept to a minimum. This is the only way to provide our senses with a complete experience. It’s hard to say what is more beautiful – the path we walk, the air we breathe, or the sounds we hear. Everything is simply perfect. Perucica Primeval Forest is a secure habitat for dozens of different bird species, including eagles, falcons, black grouse, and capercaillies. As for the forest itself, it houses the highest quality and best-preserved specimens of beech, black and white pine, ash, and maple. Some of the trees are over 300 years old and reach heights of over 60 meters. Such tree height does not exist anywhere else in Europe. Regarding large wildlife, the forest is a habitat for wolves, bears, wild boars, wild goats, and roe deer. Even Europe’s most dangerous snake, the Vipera (adder), has found refuge in the primeval forest. You don’t need to worry about any of this because our guides and National Park Sutjeska guides are there to ensure safe passage through Perucica for all its visitors. Safety is our top priority, and that’s why we choose only verified and licensed guides who have a wealth of experience and countless hours spent in Perucica. Everything that happens in the forest occurs without human influence, so all fallen trees remain in the place where they fell. Prepare for numerous obstacles on the path; in the primeval forest, nature reigns supreme, and every cycle is entirely without human influence. After 5 hours of adventure, we return to our center in the Sutjeska National Park, where dinner awaits us, followed by free activities, rest, and sleep.
